The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the planning and implementation of design and manufacturing projects
  • Planning and scheduling project timelines
  • Coordinating with the multi functional teams, including manufacturing,  design engineering, supply chain and quality.
  • Managing project administration, including all documentation
  • Reporting regularly to senior management
  • Building and maintaining client relationships (including customer visits where required)
  • Manage the client ensuring ‘alignment’ between the client’s expectations and the company’s deliverables
  • Effective communication to and liaison with the customer and provide a point of contact for customers for first level escalation of problems. Take ownership of escalations and issues to ensure satisfactory conclusion
  • Manage risks and issues effectively to ensure that all projects are delivered to the customer on time and within budget
  • Respond to enquiries from customers, providing quotations and processing orders where necessary.
  • Proactively contact potential customers to build relationships and develop sales opportunities.
  • Accurately update and maintain our internal CRM and MRP systems.
  • Support field sales team where required.
  • Coordinate the handover from sales to manufacturing or engineering departments.

The Person

  • Qualifications or experience in electronics is desirable. Applicants with a technical background or a keen interest in technology will also be considered.
  • First class customer service skills and a proactive, helpful approach is essential.
  • Proven sales or project and commercial skills.
  • Project management qualifications desirable.
  • Strong people skills, with the ability to easily develop business customer relationships.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable using internal IT systems and Microsoft packages (excel, word, power point).

A full driving license is desired as the role may require occasional travelling.

Production Technician

As a Production Technician at Makar Technologies Ltd, you will be assembling, testing, and conducting service and repair work on electronics products in our facilities in Forres. You will be working as part of a team to produce Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) products for the organisation.

Amongst your priorities will be the following:

  • Prepare sub-assemblies according to our build process
  • Manufacture products to the highest quality standards according to our build process
  • Execute the maintenance and repair processes for products that are returned by the customer for repair or service
  • Undertake testing processes to agreed procedures for completed newly produced and repaired products
  • Work on the production and refinement of pre-production and then production models of new products as they are introduced by the organisation

Reports to: Production Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Hand soldering of SMT and PTH electronic components.
  • Prepare electronic and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies
  • Produce tested and reliable production products using the organisation’s documented processes, and to schedule
  • Reliably repair customer products using the organisation’s documented processes to schedule
  • Work as part of the team developing the organisation’s product set forward

Desirable Educational Qualifications:

  • NC, Diploma in Electronics or similar field (not essential)

Essential Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in Electronics production
  • 3+ years experience in hand soldering

Desirable Skills:

Ability to demonstrate recent practical experience in some or all of the following:

  • Electronic and electro-mechanical assembly and test processes
  • ESD compliant handling of electronic components
  • MSD compliant handling of electronic components
  • Cable assembly, wiring and crimping
  • Firmware installation and systems configuration
  • Electronic system testing and fault finding
  • Good computer skills
  • Basic technical report writing skills

As a Material Handler/Stores Operative at Makar Technologies Ltd, you will form a pivotal part of the team, co-ordinating the movement and supply of parts and components on site.

Reports to: TBC

Responsibilities:

  • Incoming goods acceptance and verification
  • Booking parts and components in via MRP
  • Kitting of part and components for manufacturing orders as specified by MRP
  • Packing of completed products
  • Distribution of goods from the site
  • Cycle count completion
  • Stock verification
  • Stores areas housekeeping
  • Reporting supplier non-conformances

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Standard grades (or equivalent)
  • HNC in electronics or an engineering discipline (desirable, but not required)

Desirable Previous Experience:

  • Previous stores experience desirable

Other Skills:

Purchasing Manager

Makar Technologies Ltd is an EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) provider with two manufacturing sites, both based in the Moray area (15,000 SqFt) of Scotland. The business employs 40+ staff over the two sites.

The purchasing manager will work with the current purchasing team and customer programme manager to manage the supply chain, price and purchase material and keep a record of material order status and delivery. This role will be based in Forres.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between Production, Engineering, Programme Management and the Supply Chain teams.
  • Obtain timely quotations from the supply chain
  • Pricing of BOM’s (Bill of Materials) to allow quotations to be generated
  • Purchasing and expediting materials of the correct quality, at the agreed price and to the agreed delivery schedule
  • Identifying part supply for kits when there are shortages
  • Work to the MRP requirements and request quotations for items required to be purchased
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers and manage/control until receipt of ordered parts.
  • Input and process purchase orders on the MRP system
  • Manage the approved vendor list, qualifying suppliers before adding to the list
  • Obtain all necessary documentation and information to meet purchasing requirements
  • Liaise with the Quality Dept. on supplier returns and new suppliers
  • Resolve supplier invoice queries
  • Report to Programme Managers and Production Managers with material updated on existing orders.
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers
  • Attending customer and supplier calls, meeting or video calls
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance using KPIs, supplier reviews etc.
  • Create and monitor supplier T&Cs, supplier framework agreements and project work packages
  • Support and manage Buyers within the procurement team
  • Carry out any other related tasks as specified by the Progamme Manager/Operational Team.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced buyer
  • Experience desirable in purchasing electronic components or within an engineering environment
  • Negotiation and setting up agreements
  • Worked in a NPI environment, or mixed volume (low to high volume production)
  • Computer literate, proficient in MS Office
  • Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise and work under own initiative is required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
